Love not that likely on Valentine’s Day

Be warned, Valentine’s Day could seriously damage your relationship.

The UK’s biggest online dating company has identified which days of the year put the most strain on a relationship and found Valentine’s Day caused grief for one in ten couples.

New Year’s Day was top (53%) with Christmas (21%) and Birthdays (16%) second and third in the survey, conducted among 1000 18-55 year olds for BeNaughty.com.

The Love ‘Em Or Leave ‘Em Poll also showed a quarter of us had been stood up on Valentine’s Day, and an average of one in eight had actually had more than one date on Valentine’s Day night.

The most cited reason for breaking up was simply falling out of love; second was pressure of work; third, becoming bored of sex with their partner; fourth, they met someone else; and fifth, financial pressures.

Max Polyakov, CEO of BeNaughty.com, comments: “There’s no doubt about it, couples can feel immense pressure on Valentine’s Day. If they’re already in an unhappy relationship, it can tip people over the edge to break up. Traditionally, our sites see an increase in new memberships on and around Valentine’s Day.”
